Singer Lance Bass and artist Michael Turchin are expecting twins via a surrogate, the couple announced Tuesday.
According to People magazine and “Today,” the pair, who wed in 2014, teased the news on social media in a mock horror movie trailer. The video, which features the sound of crying babies and an eerie silhouette of two children, ends with the words: “‘Two Buns in the Oven.’ Coming soon.”
The 42-year-old ‘N Sync alum and Turchin, 34, told People that the twins, one boy and one girl, are due in early November.
“But I need them to get here before Halloween because I need them to be Halloween babies,” Bass quipped. “They have no choice but to love Halloween because I’m obsessed, and they’re going to be obsessed.”
The couple told People that they have faced several challenges in their attempts to become parents through in vitro fertilization and surrogacy, including a previous miscarriage.
“Because of what we’ve been through the last four years, we were very cautious to get excited,” Bass told the magazine, adding that this time, they told family members and close friends in the ninth week of the pregnancy.
The pair said they are looking forward to seeing “holidays through the eyes of a child” and going to Disney.
“I just can’t wait for them to have such happy experiences,” Turchin told People. “I am going to get that happiness just by seeing them so happy.”
