A Massachusetts man found himself in a legal pickle, as what began as littering escalated into an assault charge in Vermont.
Christoph Herrmannsdoerfer, 34, of Williamstown, was charged with simple assault after he threw a pickle out of a car window and hit a traffic worker Monday, WCAX reported.
Vermont state troopers said Herrmannsdoerfe was a passenger in a car in Pownal when he threw a large pickle out of the window. The pickle hit Carl Hoffman, 59, of Danby, a VTrans employee, and caused him pain, the television station reported.
Hermannsdoerfer was issued a citation and is scheduled to appear in Bennington County Superior Court on July 20.
