The ceremony was there, but the first pitch thrown by Mixed Martial Arts fighter Conor McGregor left a lot to be desired unless the desired effect was making it to a blooper reel.
McGregor took to the rubber at Wrigley Field when the Chicago Cubs took on the Minnesota Twins, ESPN reported.
But while his punches and kicks normally land on their intended target, the baseball was way, way off its mark.
Take a look at the highlight, if you can call it that. He’s taking a ribbing from his competitors in the ring.
I cannot stop laughing at this. Every MMA fighter that has represented us doing this has looked terrible but this takes the cake. https://t.co/n6Ck9AQ7wG

Later in the game, he said it was his first time not only at Wrigley but at a baseball stadium. He called it “one big Irish pub with like a field in the middle of it.”
“For me, it just feels like one big Irish pub.”

McGregor partially blamed his injured leg, received in a fight in July, for his errant pitch. He had to have surgery on his leg earlier this year, MMA News reported.
“I’m on the one leg, you can see me based fully on the left leg that was just recently injured,” McGregor said, according to CNN. “I’m happy with that. I’ll take that on board.”
