Browns OT Greg Robinson, ex-Colt Quan Bray accused of carrying 157 pounds of marijuana in border stop

Former Cleveland Browns’ Greg Robinson faces drug distribution charges

Former Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Greg Robinson and free-agent wide receiver Jaquan “Quan” Bray were arrested Tuesday and being held in a Texas jail on drug distribution charges, authorities said Wednesday.

Officials said a K-9 unit found about 157 pounds of marijuana in the car Robinson and Bray were in when they were stopped at the Sierra Blanca border checkpoint near the U.S.-Mexico border, The Department of Justice said.

Officials, according to court documents, also found $3,100 in cash and packaging equipment including glass jars, Fox News reported.

Both Robinson and Bray face charges of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute marijuana, the DOJ said Wednesday.

If convicted, they face up to 20 years in prison.

The DOJ said Robinson rented the vehicle in Los Angeles and had planned to have an Uber driver take him and Bray to Louisiana. When they made it to El Paso, Robinson, according to law enforcement, told Bray to start driving. When they made it to a secondary checkpoint at Sierra Blanca, Robinson allegedly asked the third person, who was not identified, to say that the marijuana was theirs and that they would pay them to do it. The person said no and allegedly told Robinson that if they had known there were drugs in the car, they would not have gone with Robinson and Bray.

Both Robinson and Bray were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility pending a court appearance, according to court records.

Robinson, 27, started 14 games for the Browns in 2019. He has played six seasons in the NFL and was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft and was the first-round pick of the St. Louis Rams. He played collegiately at Auburn University.

Robinson played the 2019 season in Cleveland on a one-year contract, and the Browns already told his agent the lineman would not be re-signed by the Browns in 2020, according to cleveland.com. He will become a free agent March 18, the website reported.

Bray also played at Auburn, and was with the Indianapolis Colts, before playing for the Alliance of American Football and the Canadian Football League, CBS Sports reported.

An NFL spokesman declined to comment on the case but said the league is aware of the allegations.
