Marjorie “Nikki” Cappello was found guilty by a Madison County jury on Thursday, WHNT-TV reported. The jury deliberated for about an hour, according to WAAY-TV.

Cappello was convicted of killing her husband, James Cappello Jr., in September 2018, WHNT reported.

Investigators said Nikki Cappello used insulin that she stole from North Alabama Specialty Hospital in Athens, where she was employed. according to WAAY.

James Cappello’s body was found in the garage of their home on Sept. 29, 2018, two days after his family reported that he was missing, the television station reported. Investigators said there was a freshly dug grave in the backyard.

Jurors listened to four days of testimony from 15 witnesses, all from the prosecution, WHNT reported.

“Will there ever be complete closure?” James Cappello Sr., the victim’s father, told the television station. “I mean, one part of it is over. The other, you’ve got to heal from that. He’ll never be forgotten.”

Jamie Weast, the sister of the victim, said she was overcome with emotion after the verdict was read.

“It was happy tears for sure,” Weast told WHNT. “You know it won’t bring him back, but we can start to grieve for sure.”

Nikki Cappello pleaded not guilty last year and was re-indicted on a murder charge after a clerical error charged her with reckless murder, according to WAAY.
