Drunken driver crashes into police with toddlers in car, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is behind bars after she crashed into a Memphis Police Officer, injuring the officer, while having two toddlers in the car.

Cadarius Davis, 32, was arrested and charged with child neglect, failure to exercise due care, driving under the influence, violation of financial law, public intoxication, reckless driving, and vehicular assault after she crashed her car into the police officer on McLean Boulevard, according to police.

Just after midnight Saturday, a Memphis officer was in his car with blue lights on to block the southbound lanes of McLean near Overton Park so utility workers could repair power lines that were knocked over due to the recent storms.

Davis then allegedly crashed into the officer’s car and was found to be under the influence. She also had two children, ages 2 and 3, in the car, police said.

The officer was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Davis was not injured.

The children were taken to a hospital and sustained no injuries.

Davis is due in court Monday.
