A drone carrying marijuana, cellphones and tobacco crashed into a north-central Ohio home on Monday, Richland County Sheriff Capt. Donald Zehner said.

The flying object hit the home at about 10:30 p.m. EDT, WEWS-TV reported.

According to the sheriff’s office, a 17-year-old girl heard something hit her home and went outside to investigate, the television station reported. She found a DJI Phantom 4 drone with a package attached to it. The drone was still beeping, and its onboard lights were concealed with duct tape, WJW-TV reported.

The deputy who arrived on the scene said he discovered multiple bags of suspected marijuana, two cellphones with chargers and a bag of suspected loose tobacco, according to the Mansfield News Journal.

Zehner said authorities believe there is a good possibility the package was intended for one of the prisons -- either Richland Correctional Institution or Mansfield Correctional Institution, which are in the area, the newspaper reported.

“We believe the drone is worth about $2,100,” Zehner said in a statement. “If anybody is missing it and wants to claim it they can come to the sheriff’s office and I will personally help them fill out the paperwork to claim it.”
