Coronavirus vaccine trials begin; find out how you can volunteer

Volunteers are needed to be the test subjects in the race to find the coronavirus vaccine. But how do you get chosen to be part of the clinical trials?

The place to start is a new website that was debuted Wednesday that will allow people in the U.S. to register for clinical vaccine trials, CNN reported.

The website,, will allow people to register for four studies that are expected to start later this summer.

The survey will ask potential participants about where they live, their job, and past and present health, Forbes reported.

Seattle-based Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center will coordinate the trials, KIRO7 reported.

The first vaccine to be tested was expected to be one developed by Moderna and had been planned to start this week, but it has been delayed until at least the end of the month, CNN reported.

Between 10,000 and 30,000 volunteers are expected to take part in each trial, Forbes reported. If selected, participants will have to go to research sites at least 10 times over one or two years and to monitor for symptoms.
