Coronavirus: Alec Baldwin plays Trump giving commencement speech in ‘SNL’ season finale

Alec Baldwin reprised his role as President Donald Trump one more time as “Saturday Night Live” ended its 45th season with a show taped remotely from the homes of the cast and guests.

Using the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing as topics, the show’s cold open features Kate McKinnon introducing Baldwin’s Trump character, who was the keynote speaker for a graduating class, NBC News reported. McKinnon notes that Trump was the eighth choice among possible speakers for the seniors at Saint Mary Magdalene by the Expressway."

Baldwin’s Trump started coughing and drank bleach before beginning his speech, according to The Washington Post.

“Congratulations to the class of COVID-19. I’m so honored to be your validictator,” he said. “Believe in yourselves, and you can achieve anything. Look at me. I started as the son of a simple, wealthy slumlord and grew to be a billionaire, president and world’s leading expert on infectious disease."

Baldwin’s character ends his speech, given over Zoom, with this advice: “Surround yourself with the worst people you can find, that way you’ll always shine.”

It was the third time “SNL” aired a show remotely, the Post reported.
