Francis Warner, known as “Uncle Bunny” to family and friends, topped off birthday No. 101 on Thursday a day early with a cold brew at Maple Winds Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Portage, WJAC reported.

Werner, a lifelong resident of Cambria County, was born in the central Pennsylvania town of Puritan on Jan. 1, 1919, and is the son of a coal miner, according to state census and military records. Warner followed in his father’s footsteps, working as a miner for the Johnstown Coal and Coke Company in Portage.

Staff members at the nursing home said they took special precautions so that Warner could see his family, the television station reported.

Warner’s room was decorated and he was served birthday cake, too. But Uncle Bunny had one more request, WJAC reported.

Beer.

So, staffers gave Warner a can of Coors Light, which he happily sipped.

Cheers!
