NEW YORK — A blackout in New York City may have stopped Broadway stars and other musicians from taking the stage Saturday, but it couldn't keep them out of the spotlight.
"When the NYC #blackout hit the Walter Kerr tonight, André [De Shields] and the company had to take this party to the streets!" the musical "Hadestown" tweeted along with a video.
Another video showed the stars of "Waitress" performing for a large crowd.
The Millennial Choir and Orchestra also took their concert outside.
Shortly before midnight, Gov. Andrew Cuomo tweeted that power had been restored.
"When things are at their worst, New Yorkers are at their best, and they were at their best tonight," he wrote.
