CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A transgender woman who was attacked with a hatchet in a North Carolina park on Nov. 7 has admitted that the assault was not random, police said Friday.
The reported attack at a North Carolina park earlier this week resulted in the arrests of Destiny Dagraca, Dajion Tanner and a 15-year-old juvenile. Authorities said the suspects committed an armed robbery against the 24-year-old transgender woman, Ralayzia Taylor, and cut her several times with a hatchet.
Detectives conducted an additional interview with Taylor and said she admitted that the assault was not a random act of violence. They also determined that Taylor and the 15-year-old engaged in a sex act before the attack.
She is charged with one count of statutory sex offense and one count of indecent liberties with a child. Taylor was arrested Thursday night in Cincinnati where she was staying with relatives. The extradition process to return her to Charlotte is underway.
