ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - Famous aviator and flight instructor Patty Wagstaff tweeted that her plane experienced a mechanical problem Wednesday, causing the plane to skid and flip on the runway.
According to Wagstaff's website, today is her 68th birthday.
We had a mechanical problem in our V Tail Bonanza after landing a St Augustine this evening. People have been asking and I wanted to let everyone know that my passenger (one of our instructors) are doing fine.— Patty Wagstaff (@pattyaerobatics) September 11, 2019
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the plane, which skidded off the runway at Northeast Florida Regional Airport, was Wagstaff.
The report did not say what caused the plane to crash, but said Wagstaff suffered minor injuries and her passenger was not injured.
