According to Capt. Gabriel Fabrizio of the Coos County Sheriff's Office, the two cars were traveling eastbound on Oregon Highway 42S when they plunged into a 10-foot hole, the television station reported.

"One had a driver and a passenger, the passenger was injured and transported," Fabrizio told KCBY. "The other vehicle was a SUV, there was not a second occupant and that driver did not need to be transported, refused medical."

A spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation said water pooled uphill and caused the 50-foot wide hole, the television station reported.
