Major damage, massive fuel spill reported after CSX trains collide in Florida

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Two trains collided overnight Tuesday in Florida, causing massive damage and about 3,000 gallons of fuel to spill, Marion County Fire Rescue said.

Two people were evaluated for injuries at the scene, in the Citra area of Marion County, but declined to be taken to the hospital, officials said.

The trains were owned by CSX, authorities said.

The crash caused two engines to derail and 20 cars to overturn, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.

Pine Church Road at 2500 NE 175th St. is blocked by a portion of the train, deputies said.

No evacuation orders have been issued in connection with the crash.

No other information was immediately available.
