Teenager shot near Spanaway McDonald's

SPANAWAY, Wash. — A 17-year-old was shot in both arms Saturday night near the Spanaway McDonald’s.

A McDonald’s employee told KIRO that she and her co-workers were rushed into the freezer for safety moments after the shooting.

She said she was "scared to death."

Richard Ruiz is a business owner nearby and said he heard a bang around 5 p.m.

He showed us where blood had dripped near the McDonald’s on the sidewalk.

Beverly Whitehead said she saw the victim being helped into a car near the McDonald’s after the shooting.

"The blood was all on the side of the car, and there was a puddle of blood underneath the car,” said Whitehead.

Police said after the shooting, several people returned to the McDonald's. Police took them in for questioning.

Police are still working to figure out whether the shooter, or shooters, knew the victim.

"Ridiculous violence. It shouldn't happen,” said Whitehead.

Police say the victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
