• Tacoma businesses must provide 3 sick days a year

TACOMA, Wash. - Tacoma lawmakers approved a plan to require all businesses to give employees at least three days of paid sick leave a year.

The City Council approved the sick leave ordinance Tuesday night by a vote of eight to one.

Councilmembers rejected a plan to bump up the number of sick days from three to five.

Some small business said the requirement would be too costly for them and they should have been allowed to decide what they could offer workers.
