PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — A woman was killed Sunday when the car she was riding in struck a tree, according to the Washington State Patrol.
A 29-year-old Gig Harbor man was driving north on state Route 7 when his vehicle left the road at 453rd Street East and hit a tree, about two miles south of Eatonville.
His passenger, a 29-year-old Kent woman, died. Officials identified her as Diana Hays.
The driver in the crash was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.
Loved ones of Diana Hays reached out to KIRO 7 News on Friday, July 27, sharing information about Diana's dog that's been missing since the crash.
Teri Chapman-Avis helped organize the search for Diana's dog, named Dakota.
Dakota is described as 10 years old, 80 lbs, a Husky-mix with sky-blue eyes and a golden-brownish coat.

His 2007 Nissan Xterra was totaled.
Troopers said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved in the crash, but have not determined what caused the driver to lose control.
The collision took place about 5:25 p.m. SR 7 was blocked for more than three hours during the investigation.
