Pierce County detectives are searching for suspects in a deadly shooting near a playfield in Parkland.
On Sunday at 6:48 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a young man saying he had been shot near the Mayfair Playfield on 13th Avenue Court East.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim who was critically injured. He was taken to the hospital but later died.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department identified the victim as 18-year-old Jacob Dawson of Eatonville.
Investigators said Dawson had been in the area of the playfield with friends when the shooting happened after an altercation.
According to deputies, they do not believe it was a random shooting and are working to identify the suspects.
This is the second deadly shooting in Parkland over the weekend. A 32-year-old man was shot near his home.
