CENTRALIA, Wash. — Centralia fire officials said a 17-year-old escaped a fire at 175 Blanchard Road around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The teen was sleeping inside an outbuilding used as a changing room adjacent to an exterior hot tub and woke up to flames close to a portable heater, fire officials said.

The teen got out without injury, but a car parked close to the structure sustained exterior damage, officials said.

Damages are estimated at $5,000, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
