Skokomish Valley area residents urged to evacuate from flood waters

Mason County authorities are warning residents living in the Skokomish Valley area that rivers are flooding and road closures are expected.

An evacuation order was given to residents that live in flood-prone areas.

Residents must evacuate the area immediately or be prepared to shelter in place for at least 72 hours.

Mason County expects more road closures with some areas cut off and inaccessible by 3 p.m. Thursday.

The 800 line and Ellis Hill Road are already closed and inaccessible.

Authorities are expecting floodwaters to rise as high as 17 feet, 6 inches by 11:59 p.m., Thursday night.
