• All lanes back open after overturned box truck leaks fuel on SB I-5 in Tacoma

    Updated:

TACOMA, Wash. - An overturned box truck blocked all but one lane of southbound I-5 near the Tacoma Dome for more than two hours.

    No one was hurt.

The crash that happened at 6:30 a.m. Friday is at Pacific Avenue, just south of the Tacoma Dome.

Troopers say fuel leaked from the 20-foot box truck.

A tow truck pulled the truck upright at about 8 a.m. and all lanes were back open as of about 8:15 a.m.

A Washington State Patrol trooper told reporter Rob Munoz that the truck was in far right lane when a car tried to merge into that lane, possibly not seeing the truck.

When the truck moved over to the shoulder to avoid a crash, it hit the guardrail, which caused it to go across the lanes of traffic and come to rest on its side.
