Homicide investigation underway after man shot, killed in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — A homicide investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Tacoma.

Police said they were called to the 3800 block of South Yakima Avenue about 2:50 a.m. for a report of gunfire in the area.

When police arrived, they found a large crowd of about 50 people and several people attending to a man, law enforcement said.

Medics called to the scene took the man to St. Joseph’s Hospital, police said.

The man died at 3:43 a.m. and his identity will be released by the medical examiner, police said.

Police said the shooting is the result of an altercation that happened in a nightclub parking lot involving two gangs, the Crips and the Knockouts.

Several people who were present during the shooting are being interviewed, police said.

Police said the gunman they’re looking for is on the run and they don’t know his condition.
