Fife pedestrian killed by semi in possible hit-and-run

A 64-year-old man was found lying in the street in Fife after he was struck by a semi truck that then left the scene.

Police were called to the 3500 block of Pacific Highway East at 7:37 a.m. Tuesday where they found the victim lying unconscious in the road with severe injuries.

Fife officers and Tacoma fire medics gave the man aid but he died from his injuries.

Fife police determined that a semi truck had continued after hitting the man. With the help of witnesses, the semi truck was identified and located.

The driver responded to the Fife Police Department and is being interviewed by detectives.

It is not known if the truck driver was aware that the pedestrian was hit.
