Deputies hope to identify men in attempted truck theft in Spanaway parking lot

SPANAWAY, Wash. — The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is looking for two men who tried to steal a truck in Spanaway.

Deputies say the suspects arrived at the Walmart store on Mountain Highway East Thursday, went into the store for a short time, and then were seen prowling around a truck in the parking lot.

Police said the suspects destroyed the truck’s ignition, possibly with a drill.

Both the men, who were seen on surveillance video from the store, were inside the victim's truck for several minutes before leaving in a red Volkswagen.

Anyone who recognizes the men is asked to contact the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
