Dead man found wrapped in tarp in Tacoma was murdered

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office said the death of a man whose body was found wrapped in a tarp last week was the result of a homicide.

Around 3:32 a.m. on Jan. 6, 911 received a call about a body in the 200 block of East 23rd Street in Tacoma.

The Tacoma Fire Department found a dead man at the location and requested Tacoma police.

Detectives responded at the scene.

The medical examiner on Monday identified the victim as 30-year-old Jeremy Tomlinson. His cause of death was gunshot wounds to the face and thigh.

The investigation is ongoing.
