LAKEWOOD, Wash. — A house fire in Lakewood claimed the life of a family’s cat Monday.
West Pierce fire crews said at 11:48 a.m., they had found a dead cat in the house located in the 6500 block of 127th Street SW after getting the fire under control.
The homeowner was out of the house and no other injuries were reported, firefighters said.
Gravelly Lake Drive and Nyanza Road, which are just off of I-5, were closed to give crews room to work. Officials asked the public to avoid the area.
The fire is under investigation.
