Arrest made in suspicious death under Olympia bridge

OLYMPIA, Wash. — A man has been arrested in connection to the suspicious death of another man found under a bridge in downtown Olympia on Oct. 4, according to the Olympia police.

Around 2 a.m. on Oct. 4, a man in his 40s was discovered under the 5th Avenue Bridge on a sleeping bag by people passing by.

Olympia detectives discovered evidence the man had been recently assaulted.

Eyewitnesses identified Antonio Hooks, 24, to detectives and told them that a physical assault had occurred and left the victim unconscious.

On Oct. 7, Hooks was located and arrested for assault in the second degree.

Later, it was determined a felony assault occurred that led to the victim’s death, and Hooks was booked for murder in the second degree.
