Port Orchard evacuation center

The American Red Cross opened an evacuation center at 4 p.m. Tuesday in response to a tornado that caused significant damage in Port Orchard.

The center is located at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church at 1150 Mitchell Avenue SE in Port Orchard. 

Red Cross responders provided assistance that may include emergency shelter, food, clothing and other urgent needs.

On Friday, the Red Cross announced the evacuation center would close at 2 p.m. "due to the changing needs of those who were directly impacted by the Port Orchard tornado."
