KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. - A 54-year-old Seattle man died Saturday night while hiking, according to the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a report around 11:35 p.m. of a man who died while hiking the Mineral Creek area in the National Forest, about 25 miles northwest of Cle Elum.
According to deputies, the friend performed CPR on the friend for at least two hours before walking out to look for help.
The initial investigation indicated the man possibly went down a steep embankment.
A helicopter team from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office helped Kittitas County deputies and search and rescue volunteers to recover the body
The incident is still being investigated.
