Man arrested after carjacking and police chase in North Seattle

SEATTLE — A man who witnesses say carjacked a woman in North Seattle, hit her with the car and intentionally rammed two police vehicles during a chase was caught and arrested by police on Monday.

The car pursuit stretched from Fremont to Phinney Ridge.

Police say the woman who was struck with her own car was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The incident began at North 44th Street and Woodland Park Avenue North, according to witnesses.

A witness of a chase that ensued after the carjacking told KIRO 7 the suspect was driving with his hood off.

Witnesses at the scene told KIRO 7 they had to get out of the way, and that parents and kids getting out of a metro bus had to react in order to avoid being hit.

Police say the suspect crashed the car on Phinney Ridge and was then taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing. KIRO 7 will have further details for you as soon as they become available.
