Patrol car involved in head-on crash in South Seattle

SEATTLE — Seattle police are investigating an officer-involved collision that occurred Thursday morning in South Seattle.

According to a preliminary police investigation, at 5:48 a.m., an officer in a marked patrol car was heading north on Swift Avenue South.

Just north of South Mars Street, a man was heading southbound in his silver four-door sedan when he crossed the centerline and hit the officer head-on, according to investigators.

No one other than the drivers was in the cars.

The officer was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. The other driver was evaluated and treated at the scene.

Both cars had to be towed from the scene.
