Seattle man driving stolen car leads officers on chase

MARYSVILLE, Wash. — Marysville police arrested a suspected car thief after a chase that went through several cities.

Washington State Department of Transportation cameras showed officers speeding down I-5 just after midnight Wednesday.

It started when officers tried to make a traffic stop at 88th Street in Marysville, but the driver fled onto I-5, reaching speeds up to 90 mph.

Fortunately, the roads weren't icy and there wasn’t much traffic as Marysville officers, deputies from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies started a pursuit.

The chase went into Lynnwood and spike strips were successfully deployed near I-405, but the driver kept going.

Eventually, when the driver got onto I-405, a Snohomish County deputy was able to hit the car in a PIT maneuver and the vehicle ended up in a snow bank.

The driver, a 27-year-old Seattle man, was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

Police say the car he was driving was stolen out of Seattle.
