BELLINGHAM, Wash. - An investigation is underway after a popular taco truck was intentionally set on fire in Bellingham, police said.
There wasn't a lot of damage to the outside of the truck, but the inside was charred. The owner was shocked to find out it was arson.
"I was like, 'Wow the truck is gone. It's gone,'" Joey Robles, the owner of Tacos El Tule said.
Investigators said the fire was set near one the truck's tires.
Someone set the truck on fire while it was sitting in Robles driveway last Friday.
Robles said, "The kid, my wife were sleeping in the house."
He doesn't know if this act of arson was against him or his family, which is a scary thought.
"That is a very unsettling feeling. It very much is...it just makes you feel uneasy," Robles said.
Police said the truck was not the only vehicle set on fire in Robles' neighborhood.
Robles said, "A car was set on fire about six or seven blocks from here two nights before."
The family considers themselves lucky, because the fire stopped just inches away from a propane tank.
Firefighters told Robles if it had hit, it would have launched the truck into their home.
"There's so much pride and effort and hard work into this," Robles said. "It sucks. I can't give it any other answer than that."
