New Everett center to offer services, housing for at-risk youth

EVERETT, Wash. — A new three-level space will soon be home to dozens of homeless young people in Snohomish County.

Cocoon House previously had two locations – a drop-in facility and another for administration and housing – but is now under one roof at 36th and Colby in Everett.

Cocoon House CEO Joe Alonzo says the organization plans to sell two of its buildings in Everett.

KIRO 7 got a first look at the new $14.5 million facility during an open house Thursday. It includes cooking areas, common rooms, refrigerators, a computer room and an expanded music studio.

"When they walk through and see this beautiful building that's been crafted and really thoughtfully put together, they feel valued,” said Alonzo.

The Daily Herald reports the facility will house 20 at-risk teens and 20 young adults from ages 18 to 24.

Operations begin Friday.
