Man on the run after beating, trying to kidnap ex-girlfriend, police say

MARYSVILLE, Wash. — Marysville police are looking for a man they say tried to kidnap his ex-girlfriend and then hit her in the face with a gun when she tried to get away.

Police said 22-year-old Rhyan Tyler Vasquez was wearing all black and had a bandana over his face while he waited for his 22-year-old ex to leave for work early Wednesday.

When she came out of her home, Vasquez forced her into her car, police said.  The woman told police that Vasquez had a handgun and tried to kidnap her.  When she fought back, he hit her in the face with the handgun, she said.

Officers said that during the attack, a witness heard the woman screaming, saw Vasquez run away heading north on 47th Avenue and called 911.

Marysville officers arrived in the area at 5:40 a.m.  They used a police dog to search for Vasquez, but came up empty.

The victim was taken to the hospital for serious injuries to her face and jaw.

Investigators said Vasquez has ties to Marysville, Everett, Lynnwood, and the Kirkland area. Officers said he is wanted for investigation of domestic violence assault, attempted kidnapping and having a gun, which is illegal because he's been convicted of a felony.

Marysville police said Vasquez has a long criminal history and is well-known to them.
