Fallen Everett officer remembered with signs in Stanwood

STANWOOD, Wash. — An Everett police officer who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year is being remembered with two signs in the city where he lived.

Officer Dan Rocha’s wife, Kelli, worked with the city of Stanwood to designate two streets under the city’s Adopt-A-Street Litter Control program to honor him.

The city recently approved the designation of two streets in his memory:

  • The corner of 270th Street Northwest and 271st Street Northwest, next to the Stanwood Café.
  • On 102nd Avenue Northwest facing north, just north of Stanwood Elementary School.

“What a thoughtful way to keep Officer Rocha’s memory alive and to make sure we never forget his sacrifice,” the Everett Police Department said on its Facebook page.

Rocha, 41, was killed in the line of duty outside a North Everett Starbucks after a violent encounter with a felon on Mar. 25.
