EVERETT, Wash. — The Everett school district said students will be facing new cellphone policies when school starts up this fall.
Elementary and middle school students will only be allowed to use them before and after school. Otherwise, the phones and other personal electronic devices need to be kept in a backpack, locker or other storage provided by the school.
High school students will be able to use phones during school hours, but they'll have to be powered off while in class.
The new rules are in response to what teachers say is becoming a growing distraction in class.
Violations could result in phones being confiscated.
