WSP: Suspected drunken driver leads troopers on 9-mile chase on SR 16

TACOMA, Wash. — Police say a suspected drunken driver led troopers on a chase through traffic on SR 16 in Tacoma Wednesday.

Washington State Patrol said a trooper tried to stop the driver for speeding in the eastbound lanes, but the driver refused to stop.

Troopers chased the driver for about 9 miles before the car eventually stopped near Jackson Avenue shortly before 2 a.m.

The driver was arrested for warrants and possible DUI.

A passenger in the car was released.
