Washington State Patrol detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the shooter in a drive-by shooting incident that happened on northbound Interstate 5 near Bridgeport Way Southwest in Lakewood late last month.
According to WSP, on Saturday, June 25, around 8:41 p.m., a silver Kia Rio entered the interchange ramp from Bridgeport Way Southwest to northbound I-5.
While on the ramp, the Kia merged in front of a black Lincoln SUV, which immediately began tailgating the Kia, state patrol said.
After both cars got onto the interstate, the driver of the Lincoln pulled up to the Kia’s driver’s side, pulled a green handgun, and fired two shots, according to WSP.
One round entered the Kia through the rear driver-side door and hit the inside of the rear passenger door. The Lincoln continued northbound on I-5.
According to WSP, the driver of the Lincoln was described as a dark-skinned man. No additional details regarding the shooter or their car are available at this time.
Anyone who may have witnessed road rage or aggressive driving behavior on northbound I-5 between Bridgeport Way Southwest and State Route 512 around 8:40 p.m. on June 25 or anyone with additional information on the case is asked to contact Detective Tessa Schahfer at 253-538-3172.
