Woman arrested in connection with arson in Central District

SEATTLE — A 32-year-old woman was arrested Friday in connection with two fires set in the same block of Seattle's Central District neighborhood.

Police said they were called about 11:30 a.m. to the 400 block of 12th Avenue after a woman reportedly reached under a fence at a construction site and lit something on fire, placing it under a nearby truck.

Workers at the site extinguished the fire, police said. Minutes later, another fire was set in the hallways of an apartment building across the street.

After witnesses gave police a description of the woman, she was found a short distance from the fires with the lighters and was taken into custody.

The woman was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of reckless burning.
