Woman hurt in Edmonds-area fire

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — A woman was taken to the hospital after being rescued by firefighters at a two-alarm house fire in the Lake Serene area early Friday.

Fire officials said neighbors reported the fire at a home in the 5300 block of 134th Place Southwest in unincorporated Edmonds at 2:51 a.m.

South County Fire crews arrived to find flames coming from the front of the house and were told a woman was still inside. She was rescued by firefighters and taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

No one else was hurt. A man and two children were also in the home at the time of the fire and got out safely.

Firefighters used a pet mask to give oxygen to a rescued dog. After the treatment, the pet was up and walking around.

Crews from Everett and Mukilteo helped South County Fire put out the fire. Firefighters had the flames under control within 40 minutes.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office will determine the cause of the fire.
