Windows shattered by BB gun in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — Three cars in the same Tacoma neighborhood were shot at with a BB gun on Tuesday.

It's not the first time cars have been damaged by BBs or bullets in Pierce County. Tonight, victims have a warning for drivers because it appears the problem is only getting worse.

Tressie McColm lives in south Tacoma near M Street and found her car and her husband's car riddled with BB=s. Two of her windows were shattered.

"Whoever came up to the road just shot, shot, shot all the way down," she said.

McColm was surprised to learn she wasn't alone.

"I didn't believe all the comments of people that had it happen to them, too," she says, "It was devastating."

Three blocks away, Nita Enyeart's van was shot at on the same night, shattering not only her window but her sense of safety.

"To see my van targeted is heartbreaking," she says, "What's next? Is there going to be a BB or a bullet coming through the house?"

It's a valid concern, considering law enforcement agencies say this is a prolific problem in Pierce County. Officers often get reports of windows being shot out by bullets or BBs.

McColm won't park her car on the street again. She hopes that the people doing this understand how much this is plaguing families.

No one was hurt in this string of vandalism, but parents like Enyeart worry it's only a matter of time.

"I definitely think that they need to find the people behind this, it's just going to get worse."
