Western Washington University to require COVID-19 vaccines for students and employees

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Western President Sabah Randhawa announced Wednesday in a statement that Western Washington University will require COVID-19 vaccinations for students, faculty and staff before returning to classes this fall.

The decision comes after universities - such as the University of Washington, Washington State and more - required the COVID-19 vaccine for students before returning to classes this fall.

Randhawa said the decision was based on guidance from the governor’s office, with the expectation that vaccine supply will continue to be available to everyone.

Requests for exemptions will be considered and decisions will be consistent with Western’s current policy for the measles vaccination requirement.
