VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A Washington state health department has identified another new case of measles, bringing the state total to 66.
The Clark County Public Health department said Saturday that it confirmed 65 people have now been affected by the highly contagious viral illness.
The latest person suffering from measles is believed to be a child between 1 and 10 years old who is not immunized.
Clark County, in southwestern Washington, has been the epicenter of the outbreak that began on Dec. 31, 2018, which has also spread to the neighboring Portland, Oregon, area.
Most of the cases have involved young children under 10 years old who weren't immunized.
There's been two cases of people who got measles despite being immunized though the health department isn't sharing further information to protect their privacy.
