Warrant issued for suspect in Kitsap County shooting

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — Deputies with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a man they say shot his roommate Monday evening.

According to investigators, Colt Joshua Rodriguez, 27, shot a 32-year-old woman around 5 p.m. in the 5900 block of Sidney Road SW in South Kitsap.

Arriving deputies said the victim identified Rodriguez as the suspect. The victim was transported from the scene to St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment, deputies said.

“There is no relationship between the victim and Rodriguez other than as roommates. A motive for the shooting is unknown,” a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office wrote in a news release.

Deputies said they recovered a short-barreled shotgun believed to have been used in the shooting from inside the home, but were unable to locate Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was charged in Kitsap County Superior Court Tuesday with second-degree attempted murder and a warrant was issued for his arrest. His bail was initially set at $1 million, deputies said.

Deputies describe Rodriguez as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Rodriguez is known to frequently visit the Tacoma area and to possess firearms, deputies said.

Anyone with information about the location Rodriguez, also known as CJ, is asked to contact Detective Tiffany Dobbins at 360-337-5614, or Detective Gerald Swayze at 360-337-4479 and reference case number K20-000440.
