Wake up to snow? It was 88 degrees just 22 days ago

Did you wake up to snow this morning? Residents of Western Washington that woke up to some snow or wet snow dusting their lawns may have forgotten how warm it was just three weeks ago.

In Seattle on Oct. 16, the high was 88 degrees — a far cry from the current temperature of 42 degrees.

Back on Oct. 16, Western Washington was dealing with the smoke from several fires, including the Bolt Creek Fire and the Loch Katrine Fire.

The high of 88 in October was certainly unusual, according to historical data.

It appears to be the highest temperature in October from any year since the 1950s.

In 1987, Seattle reached 87 on Oct. 1, in the second hottest October to date.

Last year, in October 2021, the temperature only peaked at 69.

Meteorologist Nick Allard says to enjoy the snow while you can, as we should dry out fairly quickly and see some sunshine over the next couple days.
