SEATTLE — All UW Medicine staff are now required to wear masks at clinics in an effort to reduce potential coronavirus exposure and transmission.
A press release said that the masks are partly required in anticipation of upcoming loosening of social distancing requirements and more patients coming into clinics.

"As we start to welcome more patients back into our clinics, we are feeling like this is the best way to keep our patients and our staff absolutely safe," said Lisa Brandenburg, president of UW Medicine hospitals and clinics.
Patients are verbally screened for symptoms upon entering the clinics, but masks will help reduce transmission from people who are infected with COVID-19 but not showing symptoms.
