Two seriously injured in Pierce County hit-and-run crash

WALLER, Wash. — Pierce County deputies are asking the public to be on the lookout for a driver who they say left the scene of a crash Thursday night that left two people seriously injured.

The crash happened at about 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of 72nd Street East and 50th Avenue East in the Waller area.

Deputies responded to a two-car crash at the intersection. Investigators said a silver Jetta was driving at a high rate of speed when it collided with a Toyota Camry as it was turning.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the driver of the Jetta got out of the car and ran away after the crash.

The driver and the passenger in the Camry had to be extricated from the car by firefighters, deputies said.

They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
