WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Two people died in a mobile home fire near Ferndale Monday morning.
Crews were called to the 5300 block of Northwest Drive, east of Ferndale, shortly before 7 a.m.
Though there is a fire station very close to where the fire started, the mobile home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, according to Whatcom County Fire District 7.
Four people lived in the home. Two people escaped but two others were not able to get out and died.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives sent special agents, certified fire investigators and a certified explosives specialist to assist in the investigation into the cause of the fire.
